The birthdate of Alice Modeste LeBlanc is inscribed on her tombstone as 10 Dec 1856; however, her St. Landry Parish, LA church birth record gives her birthdate as 10 Dec 1857. Since the church birth record is contemporaneous with her actual birth while the birth on the tombstone is inscribed after her death, it is very likely that the correct date is 10 Dec 1857. This was told to me by Beverly Jeanne Butaud Guidry at her home in Abbeville, LA in 1996.
