“ Leonard Adrian LeBlanc

LEONARD ADRIAN LeBLANC of Houston died Thursday, January 17, 2002, after a long battle with cancer. He had worked for PennWell Publishing for 26 years, and was editor-in-chief and associate publisher of PennWell's Offshore Magazine and the publication's regional weekly newsletters in Europe, The U.S., and Asia. He was a member of the board of directors of the National Ocean Industries Association, a member of the advisory board of the Global Energy Outlook, and program advisor for the Deep Offshore Technology Conference.Leonard was born on December 16, 1942, in Abbeville, Louisiana. He attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and during his years there was a saxophonist who played with several area bands. He served with the US Navy in Japan and Vietnam. He received his BA in economics and his MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Ray, and his son, Daniel Andre LeBlanc; his mother Katherine Cloteaux LeBlanc of Abbeville; and his brothers, Jerry LeBlanc of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Frank LeBlanc of Houston. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis LeBlanc of Abbeville. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2002, at 1 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6802 Buffalo Speedway in Houston with Fr. Douglas Hypolite, S.J. presiding. A private interment will follow. Pallbearers will be Jerry LeBlanc, Frank LeBlanc, Jack Schirra, David Davis, Bill Furlow, and David Burlingame. Honorary pallbearers will be the staffs of all PennWell publications worldwide. J. B. Earthman, Tanglewood, is in charge of arrangements.
