Funeral services will be held at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, October 3, 2008 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers for Isaac Guidry, 83, who died Wednesday, October 1, 2008.

Reverend Wayne Duet, Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, will be Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services. Readers for the Mass will be Jacie Moncla and Joe Lillie. The gift bearers will be Jacie and Andrew Moncla.

Interment will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Isaac Guidry, the son of the late Isidore Guidry and the former Adelaide Mathieu, both of St. Martin Parish, was a native of Breaux Bridge and a resident of Lafayette for the past 54 years. He was a veteran of the military, having served in the Navy. He served in World War II where he drove the speedboats in Pearl Harbor. He received the American Theater Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal. On October 6, 2007, he was privileged to be a part of the Louisiana Honor Air flight to Washington D.C. It was a memorable trip for him, where he said he had never felt so honored. He was in the carwash, dry cleaning and grocery store business. Prior to his retirement in 1987 he was owner and operator of the Swifty Food Store in Carencro. Mr. Guidry was a member of St. Jules Catholic Church Community.

His hobbies included raising show pigeons, gardening, woodworking, and watching football, especially watching Jake Delhomme with the Carolina Panthers. While in the hospital he was honored to have a visit from Jake. He also loved camping with family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 61 years Mazie Latiolais Guidry; two daughters, Janice G. Hulin and her husband Harry and Debra G. Lillie and husband Joe all of Lafayette; one son Terry P. Guidry, of Youngsville; four grandchildren, Blake and Matthew Guidry of Youngsville, Jacie L. Moncla and her husband Andrew of Lafayette and Joseph V. Lillie II and his wife Monique of Prosper, Texas; and four great-grandchildren, Maddox and Lillie Moncla of Lafayette and Nathan and Alexa Lillie of Prosper, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Isidore and Adelaide Mathieu Guidry; three sisters Agnes G. Leblanc, Yolande G. Guidry, and Ediith G. Moreau; and five brothers Benoit Guidry, Sidney Guidry, Andrew Guidry, Rousseau Guidry and Whitney Guidry.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed Thursday from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm and continue Friday from 8:00 am to the time of services.

A rosary will be recited Thursday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Terry Guidry, Mathhew Guidry, Blake Guidry, Harry Hulin, Joseph Lillie and Joseph Lillie, II.

The Guidry family would like to thank Dr. John Rainey and Felicia Case and the staff of Louisiana Oncology, nurses and staff of Our Lady of Lourdes 5th Floor Oncology Unit and 3rd floor Infusion Center, and the nurses and staff of Heart of Hospice for the loving care provided to him in his courageous fight with Leukemia.
