Shirley Madelaine Harpe, Frederick Joseph Romeo Harpe, Normand Donald Harpe, Lucy Norma Harpe and Murray Richard Harpe all became Crown Wards in Ontario when young children because their mother Marie Aline Delores Labine was having to care for the children alone since her husband Henry Harpe was an alcoholic and would abandon the family repeatedly. The Ontario Province took the children from their mother and made them Crown Wards until they were twenty-one years of age. Their mother continually searched for her children, but the persons in charge of the Crown Wards would not let her see them. She searched from town to town for them. Lucy Norma Harpe first met her mother when Lucy was 32 years of age.10004
